Day 1: Travel to Samoa

Day 2: Arrive early in the morning before sunrise and enjoy the smells, sights, sounds of Samoa. After you pick up your luggage, we will whisk you away to your first accommodations on the private uninhabited island of Namu’a where you can enjoy the splendor of the South Pacific. Our first meals, the opportunity to swim and beachcomb as well as your first session of yoga will be enjoyed here. Then sleep in rustic, open beach fales (houses) next to the clear lagoon. There is no electricity on the island so each of us has a kerosene lamp.

Day 3: Wake up for the sunrise and gentle yoga. After breakfast, a short steep hike will take us to the top of this small island. Along the way, you may see coconut crabs, and the ocean views are beautiful. After lunch you will have time to swim and snorkel. In the afternoon you will learn about Samoan culture, including learning a few Samoan words and protocol for the traditional Samoan ‘ava (kava) ceremony. Then, dinner and island style relaxation for the evening.

Day 4: Start the day with sunrise yoga by the sea. After breakfast we travel by boat and van to Apolima Island, a 100-person village set in the dramatic caldera of a volcanic crater island. Along the way you will visit a waterfall and see a small garden of local plants and herbs. Apolima is a magnificent and unique experience and a chance to see Samoan culture first hand. We will be welcomed with a traditional ‘ava ceremony. And then a dinner with the village.

Day 5: Practice yoga in a village fale and then have breakfast with traditional foods. Following breakfast a guided tour of a cocoa plantation is offered followed by a sample of traditional Samoan Koko (organic hot chocolate)! After lunch, take a short steep hike to a lighthouse and a panoramic view of other Samoan islands. Then have a Samoan dinner and rest for the evening. There will be plenty of opportunities to interact with the Samoan families of this village.

Then travel by boat to the island of Savai’i (the largest island in Polynesia except Hawai’i and New Zealand. We arrive at the Manase beach-fale destination for dinner and then malolo (rest). Your accommodation is a stone’s throw from the ocean’s edge.

Day 7: Morning meditation and yoga. A guided snorkeling tour will leave from directly in front of your fale. In the afternoon there will be time to relax on the white sandy beach, swim in the turquoise waters and enjoy the ocean breeze. In the evening we will have yoga tratak, which is the yoga practice of guided-star gazing.

Your skin will feel fresh, soft, and renewed. In the afternoon there will be a guided tour of lava fields. After dinner you can relax and rest for the evening.

After leaving the Manase beach fales we will visit Cape Mulinu’u, where the sun sets last on earth, explore a rainforest canopy walkway and visit a place in Samoan legend where you will be guided in placing intentions for your life. Then continue on and have dinner and sleep at a Samoan beach fale in the village of Satuiatua.
